Making Waves recruiting 2 Project Officers

Making Waves is a project led by the Hampshire & Isle of Wight and Sussex Wildlife Trust's that will develop and deliver an ambitious marine education and awareness programme. They are currently seeking to recruit two new Project Officers. This could be your chance to work in a great environment and help inspire others about our coastline habitats.
  • The two project officers will be recruited for the three year project and they will be responsible for delivering a project that will include:
  • A new marine outreach service for schools Across the four counties (Hampshire, Isle of Wight, East Sussex and West Sussex) including marine educator-led sessions in schools, cross-curricular marine heritage loans boxes, boat trips using Remote Operated Vehicles to explore the undersea environment, digital teacher and pupil resources and interactive web cast events featuring scientists and archaeologists.
  • A programme of staff, volunteer, teacher and group leader training delivered across the region to equip teachers, outdoor educators, group leaders and Wildlife Trust staff and volunteers with the skills, confidence and resources to work with under-represented audiences and to introduce marine conservation content to their learning programmes during and beyond the completion of the project.
  • An extensive public programme of events increasing the number and range of marine conservation learning activities for families and adults across the region delivered at coastal and inland locations, in rural and urban settings and on key tourist routes.
  • An oral history project providing intergenerational learning opportunities resulting in film and animated content to explore our relationship with the sea in the past and present.
  • High quality interpretation materials including a DVD for screening on board ferries, printed materials for distribution across key tourist attractions and accommodation providers and pop up exhibitions for loan to schools, libraries, Children’s Centres and community groups.
  • New marine heritage web content including virtual tours of the local underwater environment, downloadable resources, film and audio clips, interactive games, a digital resource bank for ongoing social media campaigns and a marine learning directory providing a central resource to signpost marine awareness programmes across the South East.
  • New volunteering opportunities developing skills in the development and delivery of marine learning provision.
  • Audience consultation and stakeholder engagement providing genuine opportunities for our audiences and partners to have a say in the development of the project.
  • A Marine Learning Conference sharing the lessons of the project.
  • A focus on inclusion and accessibility through the provision of resources and activities designed to meet the needs of people with physical, sensory or learning disabilities
