Angling Trust Announces taster Days for kids

Sport's governing body announces string of days to get kids into fly fishing.

The Angling Trust has announced a number of fly fishing ‘taster’ days for under 17-year-olds.

Being run in conjunction with England Youth Flyfishing, the youngsters will be given first class instruction, including casting tuition and fly tying demonstrations. The certified instructors will also provide all the tackle needed.

The three days will be held at Chigboro Fisheries, Essex, Toft Newton, Lincolnshire and Lockwood Beck, North Yorkshire.

The great news is that the Toft Newton and Lockwood Beck days will be absolutely free of charge, with the Chigboro event costing £25 in lake charges.

“Kids are the future of the sport so anything we can do to get them interested and involved in fly fishing is worth while,” Stuart Sharp of the Angling Trust told Total Flyfisher. “If just a hand full of the youngsters that take part in these days go on to be fly anglers we’ve done a good job.”

Children will need to be booked into the fly taster days in advance. Parents can contact the numbers below to book their child’s place.
